I've recently added a few HIP! points to myself by buying a holga 120 and a little bit of B&W film along with some colour. I've always had a soft spot for film's feeling.

New Hardware and Software

I finally pulled my finger out and bought a new laptop today.

The one thing that has been slowing me down a whole heap is the fact that all my PP work is done on a old laptop with no screen that is plugged into my LCD Tv with a serial lead.

I'm beginning to think this is effecting my colour correction because all the pictures Ive processed lately just don't look right. Not to mention the laptop has had several near death experiences which have slowed down its operating speed.

I've also ordered Lightroom 3.

So Lightroom 3 coupled with a decent laptop will help out a whole heap. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of HDMI out and the 18" monitor :D

The more I read and the more I see, just makes me feel powerless.

From the Floods here at Home to Floods in Brazil, Earth Quakes in New Zealand and now poor Japan, It all just makes me wonder what Mother Nature has for us next.

It also makes you sit down and evaluate all the shit going on in your life and makes you realize things aren't as bad as you think they are.

My thoughts go out to everyone who have been effected by the Natural Disasters happening lately.

Grantham Car Meet

This Saturday the 5th of March clean up your pride and joy, fill the tank up and cruise up to Grantham.

For those who live under a rock Grantham is the small town in the Lockery Valley that was practically washed away when we suffered from the huge floods in January.

As far as I've heard a ton of old American muscle and hot rod clubs are cruising up from all around Queensland. Their will be BBQs and Donations boxes around the place with all the proceeds going straight the locals of Grantham.

This will be a huge event, specially for the people of Grantham who have lost every thing.

Who cares what you drive wither it be a Import, Muscle car, Hot rod or your little hair dresser daily, Get up there and show your support.

All cars will be parked in and around the school grounds for an impromptu free car show.

Lately I've been sitting back and thinking alot about where I'm going with my photography, I like the idea of doing it professionally because I like the idea of traveling. But I don't know if I could handle someone telling me how to take pictures.

I have no formal training at all. All I have is a camera that I bought and started taking pictures with. I'm going to be changing the direction of my blog and try to post more pictures of my own more so then other peoples work.

In doing this I think it'll help me stay more active behind the view finder and help my skill set grow.

So lately Ive been trying to catch up with all the blogs I read and have been trying to gain a little bit of motivation to pick up my camera again. I stumbled across a post by one of my favorite semi-local photographers and found out that he has only been shooting for a year and has pretty much the same lens's and body as me.

I couldn't believe that he has only been shooting for a year and with the same gear. It goes to show you only need to put a little effort into things to get a long way.

So Its 12AM in Japan and I was struggling to sleep. It was only the first week.

I don't know whether it was because I wanted to get out there and see some shit, or whether it was the liters of Pepsi and Bourbon Courtesy of our local Family mart and Hotel Vending Machine's in the Hotel.

So I rolled out of Bed grabbed my Camera.

Walking around the Streets at this Time back Home would normally end up in some form of mischief. bad or good. However here the streets were still pumping, And it seemed like more then ever.

I walked around the block a few times before I sat down just on the main street near our place.

Couples riding along sharing a push bike in what looks like the most uncomfortable way. The noise of cars screaming around some where. Coupled with a little Mos Def. It was a good vibe. I finally made it to Japan.
